Prayer: Man's Noblest Exercise

Posted by ayoabraham@ayoabraham.com on August 20, 2018 at 5:35 PM

I ought to pray before seeing anyone. Often when I sleep long or meet with others early. It is eleven or twelve o'clock before I begin secret prayer. This is a wretched system. It is unscriptural. Christ arose before day and went into a solitary place. David says: “Early will I seek thee, thou shalt early hear my voice”! Without prayer, the conscience feels guilty, the soul unfed and the lamp not trimmed. Then when in secret prayer the soul is often out of tune. I feel it is far better to begin with God, to see His face first, to get my soul near Him before it is near another. -  Robert Murray McChehne.

I have heard some Christians said early morning devotions/personal prayer time is not very critical. Apart from scriptural examples in the life and teaching of Christ, King David, Apostle Paul, and others, so of us have actually experienced the effect of such a lifestyle and we also know what happened when we did not present ourselves before the throne of God and seek directions and instructions in the place of early morning worship. What is your own opinion and experience in this respect?
